Meet Bretagne. She’s the last known living search and rescue dog who worked at Ground Zero on 9/11. Her mom and handler is Denise Corliss. As members of Texas Task Force 1, they were part of the first deployment of search and rescue teams who helped save people trapped in the rubble at the World Trade Center. Denise says that Bretagne also took on the role of therapy dog, providing much needed comfort to the rescue workers during that challenging time.
With her 16th birthday approaching, Bretagne was treated to a very special Birthday weekend in New York to thank her for her incredible service! I can’t think of a more deserving dog! Thank you, Bretagne.
