Imagine coming home and finding your cats being paid a visit by these guys! I wouldn’t expect it, but for Unalaska, Alaska resident Pam Aus it’s a regular thing! Many wild animals in the area stop by her home and, remarkably, they all get along with her pets.
Pam said her cats Gizmo and Suitcase don’t mind the eagles she’s named Mr. and Mrs. Eagle. The four often hang out on the porch together. They “basically get along just fine here.”
She wrote, “I had gone on a short errand and when I came home I found the cats hanging out with these 2 eagles. During the summer these same two eagles hang out on my porch about every day like it is their own private perch. They also have claim to the lamp post across the street from my house. I just happened to have my FlipVideo on me so I thought I would take a short video to show everyone that the eagles have no interest in eating my cats. The cats sometimes look at the eagles like they would love to catch that big bird but the cats know they don’t stand a chance to even try.”
Not only are Mr. and Mrs. Eagle regular visitors, but Todd the red fox often stops by. Pam wrote, “Earlier in the day when the fox first came Gizmo my cat went right up to the fox and told him to leave. It was too funny! But the fox came right back!”
Only in Alaska!
