Michael Binder is a true cinephile. He loves movies with a passion and tries to spread the word about movie preservation whenever he can. When he saw the mega viral YouTube hit that featured “Uptown Funk” matched up to to dance scenes from 100 popular movies, he was inspired to do something similar. But instead of repeating the same films, he focused on finding clips from classic movies from the Golden Age of cinema (meaning they date from before 1953).
Although he didn’t reach 100 movies, he did get put 66 together and none of the clips were sped up or slowed down to match the music (that’s pretty amazing!). He uses scenes starring movie legends Gene Kelly, Shirley Temple, Judy Garland, Ginger Rogers and Fred Astaire and many others. Synchronizing the dance clips to the music must have taken Binder a lot of hours to put together, but the final result is a fun, nostalgic flashback with a “funky” twist!
