Cousins James, 9 and Kayden, 6, were playing in a park near west Mesa in Arizona this past summer when they heard a dog crying. The two went to investigate and found a dog tightly wedged between two walls.
It was a very hot day, so James and Kayden asked a neighbor to try and help them free the dog, but he wouldn’t budge. James knew they had call the Mesa Fire Department and ran home and called 911. Kayden stayed behind to wave down the firefighters who responded.
The dog was in obvious heat distress so the first thing the firefighters did was spray him with water courtesy of a neighbor’s backyard water hose.
It took the Mesa Fire/Paramedic crew and Mesa Animal Control about an hour to free the dog, who thankfully was all right.
Firefighters confirmed that the dog would not have survived the night in the heat, so James and Kayden saved the dog’s life! Wanting to thank the boys for their heroic actions, the Mesa Fire Department treated them to a ride in a Mesa fire truck.
Share the wonderful thing these boys did with your family and friends!
