Talk about an intense conversation! Two male lynx were captured on video making the strangest screeching noises in a dramatic stand-off for territory.
Nicole Lewis was driving near Avery Lake, which borders Ontario, Canada, and the US state of Michigan, when she came across two lynxes having a screaming match.
It seems the two wild cats were having a meltdown of sorts, making the oddest sounds. The video, which is now going viral, has many people commenting just how relatable the cat fight is, and remarking how similar the sounds the cats are making are to fights their kids have or their own squabbles with siblings or spouses.
Make sure you have the volume on to watch their unusual encounter in the video below:
Although lynxes are very private and are not often seen by locals in the Dinorwic Region of Ontario, there is a healthy population of the big cats in the region.
Since the video was released, many people have wondered what the lynxes were doing together. Lynxes tend to be lone predators and are usually only seen together if it’s a mother and her young.
Some people thought it might be a mating ritual (this was before it was revealed the two cats were both male). But several wildlife biologists speculate the fighting cats were likely “claiming territory”.
