This is so touching! Bentley is Corinne DiLorenzo’s 9-month-old pot-bellied pig and resident of EARTH Animal Sanctuary, a rescue that she founded. In February, Bentley fell deathly ill. He had a seizure that left him in a state of shock and was diagnosed with a rare bacterial meningitis.
He was given a 10% chance to live. DiLorenzo wrote, “I refused to give up on him, and he beat all the odds. His fighting spirit got him through the meningitis, which left him blind.”
He is still in the hospital recuperating from his most recent surgery, and hopefully his last. This video captures Corinne singing a lullaby to Bentley.
“To a tiny little blind pig, the hospital noises can be very scary, so on my trips to see him every day, I sing to him to comfort him and reassure him that he is loved and that everything is going to be OK. Like all pigs, Bentley is incredibly intelligent and affectionate, and responds to love just like any human child would,” she wrote. “Every day, Bentley teaches me to be strong and never to give up.”
