140-Pound Dog Wanders Into Store Wanting Treats And Cuddles

A 140-pound furry, four-legged shopper caught patrons of a Giant Tiger store in Stratford, Ontario, by surprise on Sunday morning. The large Mastiff-Husky mix was spotted wandering through the aisles, much to the astonishment of the store’s manager. But the dog seemed more interested in people than in shopping. A woman at the checkout had dog treats on hand, quickly catching the dog’s attention.

Scott Savage, the store’s owner, said the dog was very friendly when approached by staff. “Lewis,” as they later learned from his tag, seemed more interested in treats and cuddles than in causing trouble. The staff called the number on the tag but initially didn’t receive an answer. However, they soon got a call back.

It turned out the recent snowfall in town had enabled Lewis to escape his backyard. The snow had piled so high in his backyard that he used it as a “stepping stool” to climb over the fence and embark on his shopping adventure!
