A photograph is shaped more by the person behind the camera than by what is in front of it. That’s what the folks at Canon set out to prove when they invited six photographers to a portrait session with a twist.
They introduced Michael to each of the photographers individually and each time he was introduced with a different identity. He’s a millionaire, he’s an ex-convict, he’s a fisherman, he’s an alcoholic, he’s a psychic. But he’s actually none of these things.
The point of the experiment was to see how the photographers’ preconceived notions of their subject affected their photography. The results are quite startling. It certainly makes you think about how we all look at people through a lens of our own preconceptions.
