Skinny Poodle’s Stunning Transformation Surprises Her Rescuer

A scared, skinny Poodle was running around a snow cone stand when Street Hearts Texas came to rescue her. “She has mange and barely has any of her coat left,” Kirstin Erwin, founder of the rescue, wrote. “She obviously went ignored for some time.”

With her balding fur, Babs, as Kirstin named her, was also very sick and leery of humans.

Thankfully, her hunger “made her a quick trap” and Kirstin got her safely back to her home.

As soon as Kirstin got her home, she gave Babs a bath and vet treatment to get rid of all the fleas that were swarming her. Babs felt so much better afterwards that she rewarded her rescuers with tail wags. She could finally rest comfortably probably for the first time in a long time!

Babs is around 5 years old and wasn’t lactating when she was rescued, which meant she hadn’t had any recent litters. But she did have very bad mange and heart worm.

Street Hearts began fostering Babs with help from This is Houston who stepped up to help her through recovery.

Under the care of her experienced foster, Babs’ “glow up” progressed at remarkable speed. Kirstin wrote, “We’ve had numerous fosters with mange but her transformation has been one of the most drastic in such a short amount of time! ” And 60 days later, Babs is back to resembling a poodle again.

What an amazing transformation!

And half a year after her rescue, Kirstin shared a photo of Babs looking even better. Babs has been happily adopted and her fur has grown back so well that she’s gone to the groomer’s! Kirstin wrote, “I thought Babs transformation couldn’t surprise me anymore and then her adopters took her for her first real groom… oh my goodness!”
