A few days ago a shivering dog was found curled up on a bench in Chicago. A concerned Good Samaritan noticed him and brought him to Chicago Animal Care and Control. “It was clear he had been through a lot, as his fur is patchy and his skin inflamed,” One Tail at a Time (OTAT), a Chicago-based animal rescue wrote in a post.
“The dog had no collar, no microchip, and after his stray hold came to an end he was still there with no one looking for him,” OTAT continued. “For so many dogs that could be the end…. but not for Parker.” Once Parker’s stray hold period was over, OTAT decided to save him. One of their volunteers went to get him and it became immediately obvious that Parker was a love bug. She revealed that Parker “flopped over for belly rubs about two seconds after I met him at CACC. I can’t wait for this boy to find his perfect family!
Not only that, but during his freedom ride, “Sweet boy just wanted head scratchies the whole way.”
“We couldn’t be happier to have this skinny boy with us,” OTAT wrote. “His intake exam is coming up and we’re hoping he just needs a little TLC to get back to full health.”
They added, “Parker is about to learn what it means to be safe. To be loved. To be warm. To be healthy. And with any luck, to be adopted.”
A week after arriving at OTAT, Parker is now in his foster home. He’s no longer curled up on a cold bench but instead can snuggle in his cozy dog bed, wearing warm pajamas. “His foster reports Parker is a perfect house guest,” OTAT shared. “He’s house-trained, amazing on leash, and loves everyone he meets. He mostly just wants to play with toys and snuggle.”
Parker is one special pup, and with his amazing personality, he likely won’t have long to wait until he finds a permanent home to call his own.
