Muheeb was dumped on the streets of Dubai by an illegal breeder, along with five other lions. The big cats were captured and taken to a zoo facility, where Animal Defenders International stepped in to rescue them. Unlike the other lions, Muheeb was completely shut down—he wouldn’t move or make a sound.
Animal Defenders International arranged for Muheeb and the other lions to be transported to South Africa, hoping that returning to his homeland would help Muheeb rediscover his natural instincts. The change was almost immediate. On his first day in South Africa, Muheeb relaxed in the sun. By the second day, he began to play.
Since then, he’s received plenty of toys to enjoy, but his favorite is a simple potato sack!
