With temperatures dropping below freezing in St. Louis, Donna and her team of rescuers from Stray Rescue of St. Louis sprang into action to save a family of dogs from the cold. The mama dog had been spotted near an abandoned home with her three puppies.

When Donna approached, the mama dog immediately began barking protectively. Donna set up a trap, and the hungry mother quickly entered to get the food. Next, Donna turned her attention to the puppies, crawling under the porch through dirt and debris to reach them. All three were adorably chubby, prompting Stray Rescue of St. Louis to describe them as “the cutest, fattest puppies in the world!”
The rescue team named the mama dog Chipmunk and her three boys Alvin, Simon, and Theodore.

Once back at the shelter, the staff immediately fell in love with the family.

Fortunately, a foster family was already on standby and ready to care for them. Once the puppies are fully weaned, they will be put up for adoption.
