While the Huth family was busy setting up an outdoor ice rink in their backyard in Prior Lake, Minneapolis-St. Paul, their 3-year-old British Labrador Retriever, Rylee, decided to embark on an unexpected adventure. Without anyone noticing, Rylee slipped away from home, sending her family into a panic. After calling the police the Huths spotted a post online from Sailer’s Greenhouse, just a half-mile away.
The greenhouse had shared a message on their Facebook page: “Is this your dog!?! She showed up unattended to visit Santa at the greenhouse! If it is your dog, we have her and she’s having a great time but wants to go home…eventually.”
Rylee, it turns out, had decided it was the perfect time to meet Santa!
Katie Huth, Rylee’s mom, later told Fox News that their mischievous pup managed to get a head start on her human siblings, who had yet to visit Santa themselves. Rylee even posed for a photo with Santa during her escapade. Katie shared that the family often walks Rylee to Sailer’s Greenhouse during warmer months and suspects Rylee wanted to visit because the owners of the greenhouse have four British Labs of their own.
Once safely back home, Sailer’s Greenhouse updated their followers with a cheerful post:
“UPDATE…. SHE FOUND HER FAMILY!!!…. And she’s still on the nice list. Hehe. Santa confirmed Rylee is still on the nice list even though she took a little field trip to the greenhouse unattended… seriously… how many of us aren’t guilty of that!?!”
