A man on a film shoot in the woods of Alabama had no idea he would end up rescuing a dog. YouTuber Joe Van Go! shared, “In early November of this year, I showed up to a shoot in Alabama and had no idea that I would be leaving with a new best friend.”
Joe, an independent filmmaker and musician, was working on a shoot in the “middle of nowhere” deep in a national forest when a dog appeared out of nowhere. Her ribs were visible, and it looked like she had been attacked, but Joe could tell she was “a sweetheart.”

He named her “Miss Meadow” and, wanting her to be comfortable, created a makeshift bed for her. By the third day, she was sleeping in his van as temperatures dropped below freezing. Over the next few days, she slept a lot, recovering from her ordeal. Joe wrote, “I had no choice but to take her in, given her condition and the fact that freezing winter weather was on the way.”

Joe made sure she was well-fed, and as she regained her strength, she became more energetic and playful. Once back in town, he took her to a vet for flea and tick treatment and checked her for a microchip. After six weeks, Miss Meadow has transformed – she loves wearing a fancy sweater and hats. She’s gained weight and settled in comfortably as Joe’s dog. Just like that, Joe ended the year with a new best friend! You can watch the heartwarming rescue in the video below:
