An unusual fog rolled into a forest in Pilis, Hungary, blanketing the forest with a thick ice and creating a surreal frozen landscape.
Rapidly dropping temperatures caused the moisture in the fog to freeze suddenly. The Hungarian Meteorological Service took photos of the weather event that occurred in November 2014. The ice fog heavily impacted the people and animals living in the area. Many tree collapsed under the weight of the ice and caused damage to roadways and property in nearby towns. But away from the city, the rare weather phenomenon created an almost otherworldly effect.
