Animal rescuer Wilson Martins Coutinho encounters many dogs throughout his native Brazil who are in absolutely horrific condition when he rescues them. Whereas others ignored this homeless dog’s plight, Wilson found him, rescued him and nursed him back to health.

Wilson recently found this dog mortally wounded, with a gaping head wound.

He used the shirt off his own back to make the dog a makeshift bandage.

The poor dog’s scalp was peeled back, exposing his skull. Wilson immediately applied a topical antibiotic ointment before rushing him to the vet.

At hospital, the vet thoroughly the dog’s wound, gave him painkillers and antibiotics.

The dog survived and over the next few weeks, he slowly began to heal. The vet was happy with his progress.
