Rock band Queen has iconic hits such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “Radio Ga Ga,” “Crazy Little Thing Called Love,” “We Will Rock You,” and “We Are the Champions.” The group is also legendary for the set they gave at London’s Live Aid concert on July 13, 1985. It’s known as 20 minutes that changed music forever.
The flamboyant rockers’ popularity was waning by that year and the band admits to being in a “bit of a trough” after so many years playing together. Queen actually thought they didn’t matter any more. They were quite tense before they got on stage and were hoping it would all work out. But soon the band with charismatic frontman Freddie Mercury electrified the audience. Mercury’s command of the crowd soon had 72,000 people in Wembley Stadium singing and clapping in unison to “Radio Ga Ga”.
Queen stole the show, enthralling millions through the live broadcast of the dual-venue concert, which was thrown to help raise funds for Ethiopian famine. It was a magnificent set, one that cemented the rockers as one of the all time great rock n roll bands.
