If you see teal-colored pumpkins when out with the family this Halloween, it’s not a funny new trend, it’s actually a sign that the home has non-food treats for kids with food allergies.
The Teal Pumpkin Project has the goal of making trick or treating safer and happier for children with food allergies and is supported by the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE).
FARE suggests that people offer non-food items like stickers, glow sticks, crayons, bubbles etc. and keep them in a separate container from the food treats.
With many children having allergies to foods (such as peanuts and milk) and artificial flavoring, this is a great idea and a way for kids with food allergies to still feel included and have a great Halloween experience!
Share this initiative with your friends and family and consider putting out your own teal pumpkin this Halloween!
