Headaches are one of the most annoying, painful and disruptive ailments in our daily lives. And for those that suffer from migraines, the pain can be almost unbearable.
Usual remedies like aspirin or Tylenol help in some cases, but not always. As it turns out, many headaches and migraines are brought on by dehydration. That’s because dehydration brings on an electrolyte imbalance in our bodies that can trigger headaches and migraines.
An electrolyte imbalance due to dehydration is often treated with sodium (salt) and dextrose (sugar), which is why this natural drink might help alleviate headache symptoms.
For this drink, add the juice from a whole lemon into a glass of water. Then add 2 teaspoons of Himalayan crystal salt and stir. The mixture should help a headache dissipate in a few minutes.
Essentially, this “salt” drink recipe may help prevent some migraines if they are brought on by electrolyte imbalance, but it should be noted that it will likely not help stop migraines brought on by something other than dehydration.
It’s certainly worth a try, next time you feel the pain of a headache or migraine coming on.
