If you’ve ever gardened you know that planting vegetable seedlings and getting them to grow can be finicky as they are often prone to “damping off” diseases. Unfortunately, it’s common that vulnerable seedlings develop a fungus (usually due to excessive moisture), at which point you have to act quickly to save them from rotting. To combat this common problem, the following gardner suggests using a spice we all have in our kitchen cabinet – cinnamon!
Cinnamon works as a natural fungicide so if you see white, fuzzy mold starting to grow on your plants, simply sprinkle some cinnamon on top to kill the fungus. A pinch will do. Another tip is to mix cinnamon in with your starting mix or potting soil.
What’s great about this solution is that cinnamon doesn’t harm the plants and it’s completely natural.
