Dr. Ross Henderson has a unique way of putting his patients at ease – he serenades them. Ruby, a six-month-old puppy was nervous before she was going to be spayed. So to calm her, he decided to sing to her.
Taking his guitar he began to strum and sing and Ruby immediately calmed down and put her head on his lap. The veterinarian of Fox Hollow Animal Hospital in Colorado says music has always comforted him and has sung to pets when they’re under anaesthesia. But seeing how well it worked on Ruby, he says he is planning a lot more private concerts at his clinic.
Here’s the full video of Dr. Ross’s serenade to Ruby. Please wait a few seconds for the video to load. The video was captioned with, “Sometimes your patient just needs you to go the extra mile to make them feel comfortable when they’re here for the day to have surgery. Dr. Ross has mastered the technique and sweet Ruby was so thankful for that.”
Dr. Henderson has also serenades cats. This particular cat certainly looks relaxed as he strums on his guitar.
