When Carla Resendiz rushed her baby girl Holly to the emergency room, she had no idea she would film the happiest day of her life just hours later.
Carla explains, “My baby girl had an aneurysm last night and we almost lost her. They had a tube put in her skull to relieve pressure and have her medically paralyzed. After weaning her off all kinds of meds, she was finally responding to my voice. I didn’t know if my baby was still in there but my little girl is and she is a fighter. I just had to tell the world how happy I am.”
After a full night at the hospital, Carla commented, “Was finally able to get some rest ( yay Advil pm!) My baby is stable but still critical. She is going to get new 3D scans this morning and the neurologist will discuss thier next approach. They discover a cluster of abnormal vessels on the base of her brain that need other radiation or a stent? Idk so much info and I’m still trying to process the night I almost lost her.”
According to the Mayo Clinic, a brain aneurysm is a bulge or ballooning in a blood vessel in the brain. It often looks like a berry hanging on a stem.
Brain aneurysms can leak or rupture, causing bleeding into the brain in what is known as an hemorrhagic stroke. Ruptured aneurysms quickly become life-threatening and requires immediate medical treatment.
Carla was at work when Holly fell ill, but luckily, Holly was not alone at the time. She says of Holly, “She’s resolving to my questions as best as she can this morning. Even when I asked if my breath was smelly ( I cried again). I’ve gotten some questions as to how it happened and we don’t know what has caused it yet. I was at work when mom called. She was playing with her younger sister and friend in the living room when she let out a loud painful scream and ran to my mom saying that her head hurt. On more loud scream and then went limp. We are still learning.”
We’re all hoping for Holly to make a speedy recovery and wishing her and her family well.
