A wheelbarrow full of orangutan babies make the most adorable sight but the youngsters already have a tragic backstory.
The youngsters – many of whom grew up in captivity as pets before being rescued – are orphans and are now living at the International Animal Rescue‘s centre in Ketapang, West Kalimantan in the Indonesian part of Borneo.
Orangutans are facing incredible odds for survival with loss of habitat due to human activities such as palm oil plantations.
International Animal Rescue specializes in helping orangutans and rescues the animals from all kinds of circumstances.
At the refuges, the baby orangutans will be taught to climb, play and fend for themselves ahead of eventually being released back into their natural habitat.
Let’s hope these youngsters face a brighter future now that they are no longer caged and have a second chance.
