Susan Boyle has the makings of a champion, even if people didn’t think so back in 2009 when she first stepped on the stage of Britain’s Got Talent Season 3 as a contestant. At that time she told judge Simon Cowell her dream was to become a professional singer.
The audience laughed, but as soon as they heard her sing they “sang a different tune”. And although she came in second place, her albums went on to sell 20 million copies!
Now, she’s back again on the America’s Got Talent stage for the their new series “The Champions” and she didn’t disappoint.
When she is asked who she would be champion for, she says that she would be champion for those who don’t have the confidence, the ones people tend to ignore, and those with unfulfilled promise.
On stage, she decides to sing ‘Wild Horses’ by The Rolling Stones and for the first time in 9 years she performs before Simon again! She starts slowly, her pure voice filling the auditorium and by the time she finishes the entire audience is on their feet clapping. It’s a stirring, beautiful version.
“You’re the one,” says Simon, the one that is the definition of the show, he explains.
“You know what, Susan,” Simon said, “I can’t think of any other contestant who has defined this show better than you, I’m being honest with you. You’re the one. You’ve made a huge difference to a lot of people’s lives and I’m absolutely thrilled that you’re here.”
Mel B. is so overwhelmed she gives Susan the golden buzzer, saying she deserved it the first time!
