Every night YouTuber CanyonChasers was getting alerts from his driveway security camera. And every time he checked the camera to see what was going on it was the same thing – a tiny kid on a bike going up and down his cemented driveway.
At first, the man admits that he was a bit annoyed. “But then I found myself looking forward to the evening alert,” he writes. “And then inspiration struck, in the form of my wife giving me this great idea,” he added.
Rather than become grumpy about it, CanyonChasers listened to his wife and began drawing a makeshift race track with chalk on his driveway for the neighboring kid to race on. The small biker loved it and right away used it. When it rains, CanyonChasers redraws it.
As the summer has gone on his chalk track has “evolved.” Not only does the kid get better and better on it, a few others (young and old) in the neighborhood ended up using it too!
Redditors loved the video, with many commenting what a pleasant surprise it was to see a good neighbor in action. One redditor commented: “I don’t know about you guys but I’ve been listening to my neighbors scream at each other over the smallest things because of lockdown fatigue – and seeing this guy be awesome to his small neighbor restored my faith in humanity even if just for a few minutes. Friggin awesome.”
Another wrote, “Love it! Good guy neighbor. Wasn’t expecting all those other different riders enjoying it, very pleasant surprise.”
For CanyonChasers it was just what he needed to distract him from the COVID blues. He says, “What transpired has turned into the best part of an otherwise dreary pandemic summer.” And watching his video, we get to experience a little bit of the fun too.
