If there’s one thing musician and conductor André Rieu knows how to do it’s how to put on an epic performance. Playing the violin and conducting his Johann Strauss Orchestra, Rieu is joined by 150 dancers for a mesmerizing performance in Maastricht’s large town square.
The dancers are decked out in their finest (tuxedos for the men and white dresses for the ladies) as they dance in the aisles between the audience! The musicians and dancers perform a waltz along to Lara’s Theme, the music from the 1965 film Doctor Zhivago by Maurice Jarre. This beautiful waltz is followed up by a rousing clip from Franz von Suppé’s Light Cavalry.
The aerial shots reveal just how spectacular this performance is!
This particular performance is taken from his concert Falling in Love – Live in Maastricht.
A few years later Rieu returned to his home town of Maastricht for a second concert. Here’s a clip from the Second Waltz.
