Water scarcity and a lack of proper sanitation are two big issues affecting the world and its resources. Philanthropist and Microsoft founder, Bill Gates, is backing the development of an ingenious machine called the Omniprocessor.
Invented by Janicki Bioenergy, the Omniprocessor turns sewer sludge (human waste) into clean drinking water, electricity and ash. In places without good waste treatment plants, and where human waste is usually simply flushed into the environment, such a processor could be a real game-changer in sustainability.
Gates recently went to check out the device and drank some of the outputted water, which was waste just minutes before!
