Darn it, bears! When Rose Waldron recently looked into her backyard in her home in Coquitlam, British Columbia she spotted two bears on her trampoline.
The two young bears began to play and tussle as Rose and her family watched on. While filming, Rose added funny commentary to the two sparring bears. ““Yah, so much for that trampoline,” Rose says. “It’s wrestlemania,” she laughs, “Goodness gracious.”
Viewers love Rose’s commentary. “Rose, ( property owner/ camera operator) absolutely love you,” wrote one viewer. “You are wonderful kind funny and beautiful human being. It seems as if you treated these wonderful bears like your own little toddlers. Hence, being such. Lovin soul as you are. Thank you for sharing.”
Part of Rose’s acceptance might be because bears are regular visitors to her home.
Rose’s husband, Doug Waldron, told CBC News that bears regularly visit the family’s backyard. So much so that they leave the gate open in the Spring so the bears don’t climb over his fences. Their home is close to the Coquitlam River.
“That’s their bathing spot and their fishing hole. It’s their country,” he said. “They can come and go as they please. They don’t bother anybody.”
As for the family’s trampoline, Doug reports that it came through relatively unscathed. Only the fibreglass rods that hold the netting got damaged.
