A Blue Heeler mix puppy missing a leg was wandering in the desert of Coachella when worried Good Samaritans reached out to Kirk Geiger with The Animal Rescue Center Of California. Temperatures were soaring above 111 Fahrenheit (43 C) and neighbors were worried the dog wouldn’t survive the heat. The people who called Kirk were also worried about calling animal control, fearing she would be euthanized right away.
Kirk came by and right away noticed how friendly the dog was and a bit naughty (she snatched his treat bag). But she was very eager to get his attention and be petted.
The Animal Rescue Center Of California has named her Tres and she is around one year old. She’ll need surgery on the one leg prior to being put up for adoption but when she is, her new family will have an affectionate dog. Kirk revealed that Tres is “a ball of love. Just wants a human’s love.”
