For two long years, Bosco the beagle mix, scrounged for food on the streets of Rhode Island after he got lost and couldn’t find his way home.
“He was leashed in the back yard and somehow he just slipped off the leash,” said Sheilah Graham, volunteer with Missing Dogs of Massachusetts.
Bosco reverted to instinct to survive and found an area near local restaurants where he managed to get food from the nearby dumpsters.
After learning about a stray dog haunting the neighborhood, Sheilah left out a cage and luckily, one night, Bosco took the bait.
It didn’t take long for Sheilah to track down Bosco’s owner, Bill, and she gave him a call. She asked “Hey Bill, do you recognize this voice?” and Bill was stunned to hear Bosco barking in the background. “He’s a really remarkable dog, obviously,” said Bill of Bosco’s tenacity.
As Bill has moved out of state, she also arranged for the two to have a quick chat on FaceTime. As Bosco was too old to fly and Bill is disabled, Sheilah volunteered to drive the 2000 of miles to reunite the pair in person.
I’m so glad to see Bosco is on his way back to his family after his long, rough time away from home!
