Bruce Springsteen paid tribute to Prince by opening his concert in Brooklyn with a rendition of “Purple Rain” a few days after the musical icon’s death. Springsteen and the E Street Band were bathed in purple light as they honored the late legend on stage at Barclays Center.
It was a simple but classy performance. “Prince forever! God bless,” Springsteen said at the end of the 6-minute cover.
One person commenting on the video of the performance pointed out that back in 1984 when Prince’s Purple Rain went to #1 on the US Album Charts, the album it knocked off the top spot was Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA.
