After Ellen Degeneres posted the video of 4-year-old McKenna singing Martina McBride’s song “I’m Gonna Love You Through It” to her mother who’s battling cancer, the touching video quickly went viral. McKenna’s sweet serenade to her mom, Diana, brought tears to everyone’s eyes.
A week later, Ellen decided to invite the mother and daughter on her show. Diana is fighting Stage 4 Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. “I was diagnosed on Christmas Eve of 2013,” Diana explains to Ellen. “[Having my daughter sing to me] was breathtaking. She sings to me every day and I just can’t help but cry, but it’s a good cry. I just want to thank you Ellen for reposting that video. It has given me so much hope and courage to fight on and keep fighting this battle.”
Well, Ellen also had a special surprise for the brave mother, inviting McKenna to sing the song again, but this time with Martina McBride herself. Get ready with your tissues!
