Deaf Woman Is Shocked By How This Starbucks Barista Takes Her Drive Thru Order

A drive thru Starbucks in St. Augustine, Florida, made Rebecca King’s day – check that – her week! Rebecca is hearing impaired, which makes navigating drive thrus usually problematic for her. But at this Starbucks location, there’s a video screen placed at the drive thru menu. When Rebecca could not answer the question coming from the intercom, barista Katie Wyble popped up on screen and began using sign language to take her order.

Rebecca was surprised and delighted. It’s the first time she ever encountered something like this and couldn’t resist coming back the next day and videotaping it to share with her friends. She captions the video “Starbucks! This is what I’m talking about!” She adds, “This is what we need in this world…!!!”

Rebecca is very pleased her video is going viral, because she would love to see more businesses doing something similar. She says it’s a big deal to the deaf community because as far as she knows nowhere else has something like this.
