Dog Clinging To Barbed-wire Fence In Shipping Port Rescued By Boat Crew

A ship crew entering a harbor noticed a stray dog in a precarious position when they arrived at port. The dog was stuck on a barbed-wire fence that separated dangerous metal bins and the water. They immediately set out to help the poor animal.

One crew member swam out to the dog with a cylindrical bin buoying a pallet as a makeshift raft with a rope attached to it. When he reached the dog, he noticed the animal was injured from clinging to the fence. Marcelo Gonzales Otoya Tejeda, a merchant marine and dog lover, filmed his colleague as he set about rescuing the dog.

Once the man freed the dog, he was able to put him on the pallet and start swimming back to the boat. At one point, the dog jumped off and began paddling away, but thankfully the dog continued to swim in the direction of the boat. When the dog and man arrived at the boat side, they faced another challenge: how to lift the dog up the rope ladder. The crew member made several attempts to climb with the dog but failed each time. There were some tense moments as the dog was unsure of what was going on. Eventually, when the man tried again, the dog seemed to want to cooperate. But working together, the crew came up with a solution.

Another sailor came down with a rope to pull the dog on board. Once safely aboard, the crew made sure to feed the hungry dog right away. The crew will take care of the dog until they get back on land and we’re sure given the care they showed in rescuing him, he will find a safe place.
