Mike Cannily was heading home on the 1-79 highway in Colorado just before Christmas when he witnessed a frightening incident he wanted to share with pet lovers everywhere.
“I was on my way home from seeing Rogue One [movie] and I was in rush hour traffic. I saw a big dog sticking his head out of a car, then he went back inside. Then a little white dog put his head out and next thing I knew, he was tumbling right in front of me. I slammed on my breaks and was about to jump out, when the owner pulled over. I was in shock. I called my wife to tell her what happened. I could have ran over that dog.”
Cannily’s experience highlights the dangers of leaving car windows open if there are unsecured dogs in the car.
The reason Cannily shared it is to highlight the dangers. He writes: “When my wife got home, I showed her the video and she said we need to post this so people realize that even if you don’t think your dog will jump out, they might. It’s not worth it. It also made me realize how important it is for drivers to be paying attention.”
Share Cannily’s important message with the pet parents you know.
