When Heather first saw Arthur, the elderly dog had been with Dachshunds and Friends Rescue for a year without an adoption applications. The senior special needs Dachshund had had a rough life prior to arriving at the rescue. Arthur had been living on the streets of Tijuana, Mexico for quite some time before a kind woman rescued him and helped get him to the U.S.A.
When he arrived at Dachshunds and Friends Rescue, he was in poor shape. He was missing fur due to malnutrition, covered in fatty lumps, suffering from severe dental issues, and completely deaf. With medical attention and foster care, he began his recovery.
After learning his story, Heather knew she wanted to take care of him. She had already rescued Ace, a blind senior Dachshund, and later rescued Abby, another senior, after adopting Arthur. It took time for Arthur to adjust to his new home, but once he did, his personality began to shine.
Arthur and Ace have become buddies, with Arthur helping Ace navigate by letting him bump into him. Heather and Arthur have also developed their own way of communicating, and she has learned his quirks, like how he only likes to cuddle at night.
Arthur is thought to be around 15 and 18 years old, and is just the sweetest boy. Heather says she is grateful to be able to give him the loving home he deserves in his golden years.
