Ohio Firefighter Justin Deierling wanted his proposal to his girlfriend, school counselor Megan Zahorec, to be extra special. So, he arranged for a very special surprise. He would propose to her during a fire drill at the school where she works.
The two met at the school while he was volunteering for a walkathon. Justin wrote, “I knew how much she loves her job and the kids at Greentown and wanted to include them as well as the place we met. I thought what better [way] to do this than a fire drill.”
Justin and his coworkers suited up and got ready for the big day.
When they arrived at the school, the students were already outside because of the fire drill.
Justin nervously double checked he had the ring and Megan was oblivious to what’s about to happen because she was busy directing the drill.
When Justin spotted her, he gave one of his co-workers the signal and he lifted up the panel of the fire truck to reveal Justin’s sign – “Miss Z, Will You Marry Me?”
At that very moment, Justin got down on one knee and popped the question.
A very surprised Megan said “Yes” in front cheering students and staff.
It was a joyous moment for everyone.
Afterwards, all the kids got rings too… ring pops that is.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
What a thoughtful and memorable way to propose!
