French Bulldog Missing For A Year Found In Empty Home Boarded Up With Plexiglass

A dog is happily reunited with his family after he went missing for a year and was found in a dangerous situation. Leo the French Bulldog went missing from his backyard in Dearborn, Michigan last August. His family was heartbroken when they couldn’t find him, and later they moved to Arizona for a job, thinking he was gone forever.

Flash forward to just a few weeks ago. Melanie Folkerson, an animal control officer with Detroit’s animal shelter, received a call from a concerned community member who had spotted a dog sealed up in an abandoned home in the hot weather.

Melanie went to the home and found it sealed up with plexiglass and when she approached the transparent door a French bulldog peeked out at her. She needed to cut the locks to get inside but as soon as she did the relieved dog jumped right into her arms.

When Melanie saw the dog trapped inside she said, “I had a lot of thoughts running through my head.” What Melanie didn’t know at the time was that there was a mother and daughter who had given up hope of ever seeing Leo again. Thankfully, they had him microchipped so it didn’t take long for them to receive a call. They said the whole thing was “unreal” but in the best way. Leo will be reunited with his family soon.

Thank goodness a Good Samaritan noticed Leo and took action to get him help. Without that call who knows what might have happened to poor Leo.
