Ever wanted to try making your own homemade gummy bears? This home cook demonstrates how to make the popular candy using a few simple ingredients. The recipe calls for:
½ cup cold water
2 tbsp or 20 g of plain unflavored gelatin or pectin
One 85 g packet of flavored gelatin / jelly / jello mix
gummy molds (here are some available through Amazon)
Pour the cold water into a saucepan. Next add the unflavored gelatin (or pectin) and flavored gelatin to the cold water. Put on low to medium heat and allow to heat for 5 to 10 minutes. When it’s ready pour it into a jar or container that’s suitable for pouring. Let it cool for a few minutes. Choose the mold for whatever shape you would like and pour the mixture into the mold. Place it into the freezer for 15 to 20 minutes until its set.
If you would like to get sour flavored gummy bears, sprinkle them with citric acid (don’t add too much or you’ll dissolve them). And that’s it! These look fun for adults and children alike!
