Debbie was out when she saw a raccoon fighting for his life on the road. It was a hot day, and the raccoon wasn’t moving so as she was driving by, she didn’t know if he was alive or dead. But when she approached him, he lifted his arm. Debbie wrapped him up in a tarp she had and brought him home. She gave the animal some water – he was so thirsty.
Debbie decided to name him Lucky and started to nurse him back to health. Two days later, Lucky was doing so much better! Debbie reached out to deputies to see if they could find a place to send Lucky and they noted the raccoon was doing so well that they decided to release him back into the wild.
Although Debbie is sad to say goodbye to her new friend, she is “so grateful for saving him off that road.”
Lucky was brought to the nearby woods, where he was released and given a second chance at life.
