When it comes to a debate on who sang people’s favorite version of Oh Holy Night, John Berry is at the top of the list.
Active as a recording artist since 1979, the country western singer has recorded more than twenty studio albums, including one platinum album and two gold albums. Most recently, Berry battled throat cancer but thankfully announced in summer of 2019 that he’s cancer-free.
When Mr. Berry released his version of Oh Holy Night out back in 1995 it quickly became many people’s favorite. So much so, that fans make sure to listen to it every Christmas.
As one fan wrote, “Best version ever, and gives me goose bumps every time I listen to it. Said another, “Can’t go with out listening to this song [for the holidays], my favorite Christmas song. No one can sing it like John Berry can.”
Others added, “John Berry does the most beautiful version of the song,” and “He sings this amazing song so beautifully it brings tears of joy to my eyes and makes my heart happy.”
Listen to Berry sing the perennial Christmas classic, and weigh in for yourself. Or simply sit back, relax and enjoy!
Here is another, later recording of the song by Berry.
Berry’s Oh Holy Night is available on Amazon for purchase. He also released another Christmas album in 2016 entitled, “John Berry Christmas“.
