A group of kids make the Christmas story their own in this funny video produced by Southland Christian Church in Kentucky. In this hilarious twist the kids are the narrators and the adults are the performers.
The result is a new contemporary interpretation of Mary and Joseph’s story. For instance, the three wise men now give gifts of stuffed hippos, disposable diapers and cool sneakers.
As the children retell the story, the adults dress up as the characters and act out the children’s words. They even dress up as sheep and the star of Bethlehem, or as one of the kids calls it “Bethle-ha-ha-ham”.
The video was produced unscripted because the church wanted to hear the story in the kids’ own words and the results are precious. There are many golden zingers in the video.
“I don’t know how it would survive in that barn,” a child comments about the baby Jesus. “Too stinky. Too crowded.”
“I love you and you the best baby I’ve ever seen! There, I said it,” says another.
The video has become an instant hit and continues to deliver laughter and joy years after it was first released.
