Kazakhstan residents Abylaikhan Kuandyk and Nurzhan Makayev didn’t know what to make of the roe deer they saw standing on the side of a wintery road. The deer was standing completely still with its head down and not budging.
The deer’s behavior was very unusual but as they approached it they saw why – ice and snow had frozen solid over the deer’s head! The deer’s face was completely encased in snow and it could hardly see.
With temperatures reaching -56°C (-68.8°F) that day, the deer was helpless to remove the icy snow itself. But thankfully the men grabbed hold of the frightened deer and freed the animal from its icy cage.
Once the roe was freed it ran away into the fields.
