Nathan Sawaya is an artist who creates awe-inspiring works of art out of the most unlikely of mediums – LEGO® bricks.
Ten years ago, Nathan Sawaya quit his job as a New York City lawyer to create works of art using nothing but the colorful toy bricks. Now, his unmistakable artwork can be found in museums and galleries around the world and his exhibitions, titled THE ART OF THE BRICK, have been seen by millions of people.
Nathan has more than 2.5 million colored bricks in his New York and Los Angeles art studios. His sculptures are typically between 15,000 to 25,000 bricks and he uses the same LEGO that you can buy in the stores. No special color bricks are made for him by the LEGO Group.
Said Nathan, “I create and share my art to inspire others, and to take LEGO where it has never been before.”
Nathan shared his awesome creations with Reshareworthy.com and some of his work is featured below. You can click on the images to see the artworks up close.
Nathan has also re-created famous historical artworks using LEGO. These art works are included in his latest THE ART OF THE BRICK exhibit. Here are a few of my favorites.
Nathan also recently launched Art Revolution, a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting art education for kids. I’m sure kids will be inspired to create their own masterpieces from LEGO after seeing his.
