Cats are notorious for getting stuck up trees. But this large male lion proves that cats can climb down if they take it slow. Filmed in Serengeti on the border of Tanzania and Kenya, the lion had intended to rest in the tree but the weather changed his plans.
“A storm was rapidly approaching, and this lion knew he needed to climb down and get to safety, but he wasn’t happy about it,” says the videographer. “Watching him climb down was like watching a small tentative kitten, a funny sight given his majestic mane and stature.” And they are right. The lion manoeuvres himself into a strange position at the top of the tree – at one point he is horizontal – and then lowers himself down inch by inch.
The videographer commented about their video, “This safari wildlife video shows a humorous side to the ‘King of the Jungle.'”
