Photos with our pets can be incredible keepsakes and every so often you sometimes manage to get pictures that you will treasure forever. That’s what happened when Karl Joy’s sister asked him if he would take some photos of her with her white German Shepherd on a dark, cold night…
“My sister wanted me to take photos of her and her white shepherd Luna last night,” he wrote on Imgur. “It was freezing cold and pitch black, but it made them kind of magical.”
The “steam / frozen air particles” made it look like there were stars in the background and the “faint stripes behind them in the shadows are trees”.
For anyone interested in how Karl achieved the photographic effect, he says, “I used a single yongnuo speedlight behind them, the light bounced nicely between them so I didn’t bother using any other flashes (plus it was COLD and we only set this up in about 10 minutes). Otherwise for anybody curious, I was using a 6D with a Sigma Art 35mm.”
