This is like something out of the Bionic Man but it’s actually real! Leslie Baugh has become the first ever shoulder-level double amputee to have robotic arms can be controlled by his thoughts.
Baugh lost both his arms 40 years ago in an electrical accident. Now, thanks to a team of scientists and doctors at Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) he has been fitted with the custom-made Modular Prosthetic Limbs (MPL) that interface to Baugh’s nerves.
For now, Baugh is only able to test the arms in the laboratory, but he’s already dreaming of the day he may be able to put change into a vending machine and pull out a a soda. Share this amazing technology with your friends and family!
