Clay pulled into a subdivision when he noticed a dog hanging around the building site. Clay, who works in real estate construction, saw that the dog was eating garbage or scraps left out by the workers. However, she was too skittish and shy to let anyone get close to her. He told his fiancée, Jennie, about the dog, whom they named “Tappie,” and they decided to help her.
Over the next month, Clay visited Tappie a few times each week, offering her treats to try and gain her trust. Gradually, she began coming closer and closer. One day, she ate a treat out of his hand and lay down next to him. That’s when he knew they could take her home.
Jennie says that Tappie opened up very quickly, and within a few days, she was jumping on their bed for cuddles. In fact, she has become a “velcro” dog. They noticed she was spayed and suspect she may have been adopted at some point but then abandoned. Despite that, they are thrilled to welcome her into their home and family.
