Old Beagle In Poor Shape Stands Outside Gym Asking For Help

An old beagle was wandering a gym parking lot looking through the glass door for help. Thankfully, he caught someone’s attention and they  contacted Kristin Erwin with StreetHeartsTX to see if she could help.

“Someone shared a dog in poor shape outside their gym. The photo of him standing outside the glass door looking in for help crushed me,” she wrote. “I drove by to see if he was still hanging around and sure enough he was in the same spot eating rice,” she continued.

The dog, now named Knox, had long nails and a swollen stomach But he was happy to see her and very happy to get leashed and head to her car.

“As soon as I put the leash on him, he was like ‘let’s go!’ and his tail wagged the whole way to my vehicle,” Kristin said. He let her pick him up without problem and once back at her home he enjoyed walking around her property.

Kristin didn’t know at the time that Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue, Inc. had also heard about the old dog and offered their assistance. Happily, Kristin shared that “this sweet, old man is in good hands now and will get all the medical care he needs with HBHR.”

A few days later, the vet has provided Kristin with an update. He estimates Knox is around 7 years old. “He received medication for his skin infection and hookworms. He received a much needed dental. Surprisingly Knox tested Heartworm negative which is great news.”

Once he’s better, Knox will be placed up for adoption. “If you’re looking to adopt a sweet old man, consider Knox, or any of their other adorable Beagles,” Kristin said.  Visit Houston Beagle and Hound Rescue, Inc. for details.
