How often do you stop and smell the flowers? If you don’t take the time in your day to do it that often, let these photographs of ground squirrels taking the time to smell flowers inspire you.
Dutch wildlife photographer Dick van Duijn shared these delightful photos on his Facebook page. One photo in particular has gone viral. It shows a ground squirrel, his eyes closed in bliss, smelling a yellow flower.
Van Duijn, 34, took the photo while visiting Vienna, Austria this past summer.
He wrote [translated]: “Last week I went to Austria for a few days to photograph ‘Ziesels’. These funny, curious and acrobatic ground squirrels were on my photograph list for a long time. I have a lot of fantastic images with them and beautiful flowers which I’m very happy with.
The ground squirrel inhaled the scent and then took a nibble.
”Let me smell you…”
This dandelion blossom looks tasty.
The first photo of a ground squirrel van Duijn took.
Van Duijn also takes photographs of birds and other wildlife which you can see on his Facebook page.
These ground squirrel photos remind us a bit of the photos of harvest mice in fields in England. You can view those photos here.
